Draft Hunting License Increase Proposal

At the PFSC Fall Convention held this September, delegates from around the state voted in support a hunting license increase. Based on that support a draft license proposal was created. Remember this is only a draft and will likely continue to change and evolve as more input is collected.

This is draft package was put together by a coalition of sportsmen's groups. (PFSC, United Bowhunters, PA Trappers, PA Deer Assoc., Quality Deer Management, PA Wild Turkey Federation, Ruffed Grouse, Pheasants Forever, Susquehanna Waterfowlers)

Please keep in mind, that this draft includes the "wish list" of many of the groups for things they'd like to see (like a turkey stamp or pheasant stamp), but it does not mean that all groups support all aspects of the increase.

The following chart shows a $29 back tag fee.  However, if the increase is not passed soon, the money generated from this package may not be enough to cover escalating agency costs, and therefore another proposal was put together to make the back tag fee $34, with all other fees remaining the same.

A third proposal, and the one most on the groups supported, was for both proposals to include a "COLA" (cost of living adjustment) to be added automatically every 2 years.  However preliminary feedback from legislators is their concern over not having the "control" that they have now with regards to the agencies needing to come back to them on a regular basis asking for increases.
