PFSC’s 2007 Fall Convention
Firearms Committee
Holiday Inn East
Firearms
committee:
Meeting
called to order at 3 p.m. by
Chairman Mike Protz
Mike turned
the meeting over to Southwest Division Chair, Bud Floyd, who discussed crime related incidences, and the fact that guns were
blamed even if a knife was used. He
stated that prices on ammo are going up.
Southcentral district-absent
Denny
Fillmore spoke on behalf of the Southern District. He has been hearing complaints about
ranges being closed. Their Club has
air rifle shoots that are getting high attendance. Denny reminded everyone that September
18th is National Hunting and Fishing day.
He said some clubs are digging up used led shot and reusing it

Northwest
Division representative, Harry Guy, stated his region is fighting attempts
to ban firearms in municipality and parks.
PFSC and the NRA have responded opposing the attempts.
John
Hohenwarter, NRA State Liaison, wrote a letter to the governor concerning
our constitutional rights. John and
Melody continue to work with our legislature on firearms and 2nd
Amendment issues.
Northcentral Division representative, Allen Campbell,
discussed the State Police and one gun per month.
Northeast-Tiffany

Central
Division representative Rick Smith talked about shooting sports programs in
schools.
NRA State Liaison,
John Hohenwarter, asked to be called immediately if anyone hears anything
against the preemption law. The
Senate passed a bill this week trying to get UN out of our decision making
process.
PFSC office
has been busy. Discussed closing down the PIC system. John stated that Philadelphia’s
crime problems are increasing. One
reason for this increase is repeat offenders are being returned to the
streets. There are three Bills to
watch HB 21, HB 41, and HB 1740. A comment was made that the Governor
should put his money where his mouth is, and provide adequate funding for
law enforcement. Suggestion was made to the Black Caucus to support the
Eddy Eagle program in schools.
Kim Stolfer thinks HB 641, Castle Doctrine, is a good bill
and should be passed. Kim suggested
everyone should complain to the Governor, Legislature and State Police
about the PIC’s shutdown. He believes the
statements they made where lies. We should replace the PIC system to the
NIC system. NSSF took a survey, and found that 95% of Dealers were against
the PIC system. If you are denied a gun purchase, you have 20 Days to
challenge it. Support HB 1235, which would allow someone who is denied the
right to own a firearm to appeal to the PSP within 30 days of denial.
Jackie Shogun is an excellent choice for the Supreme Court.
Mike talked
to Rod Cory, Republican Caucus. He wrote a letter to Abbington Heights
School. Questions were asked why we can't change
the PIC to NIC. HR 2640 will help the problem. Our Governor is also part of
the problem.
