PLS Summary:

(PN
1977) The Hunting Heritage Protection Act would require Department managed
lands to be open to access and use for recreational hunting. The Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources would not be required to give hunting
a priority over other uses of the land, but the Department must ensure that
their actions, to the greatest practical extent, do not result in a net
loss of acreage for hunting. The Secretary would be required to report to
the General Assembly by October 1 of each year on the acreage administered
by the Department that has been closed during the previous year to
recreational hunting and the reasons for the closures and the acreage
administered by the Department that was opened to recreational hunting to
compensate for acreage closed.
