PGC
Testimony 4-2007
The
Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs’ continues to support a deer
management program that is based on scientific wildlife management;
management that is based on healthy deer and healthy habitats for all our
wildlife resources. We, like others,
are hearing from those voicing their concerns over decreasing deer numbers
in some areas across the state. We
are also hearing the reports of limited forest regeneration in many areas.
PGC Testimony 1-2007
As I am sure
you are aware, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs’ position
on the agency’s deer management program has been a positive one for the
most part. We still continue to
support scientific based wildlife management; however, many of our members
are voicing concerns over drastic, decreasing deer numbers in some areas
across the state. We would ask that
you continue to closely monitor harvest reports as well as on the ground
reports and habitat data from all areas of the state, and make adjustments
to the program where needed.
PGC
Testimony 4-2006
At our Spring
Convention this past March, our delegates again discussed the deer
management issue and expressed
concerns about media reports that indicate you may consider major
changes to the existing deer management program.
Democratic Policy Committee 3-2006
Although the intent of this
hearing is to address deer management, as you know, there are several
important issues facing us in 2006 with respect to the PA Game Commission,
and our organization looks forward to working with your members on all
those issues, not just deer management.
Northwest Sportsmen’s Forum 3-2006
For nearly
75 years the PFSC has been the voice for sportsmen and women in the
Commonwealth. During the course of those years many issues have come and
gone, as have many of the faces affiliated with the organization. However,
a few things have remained constant.
The organization’s commitment to protecting our resources and
sportsmen & women’s rights and privileges, and our commitment to
representing the views of our members to Pennsylvania’s
decision makers.
PGC Meeting Testimony 1-2006
Once again,
there’s been much media attention paid to deer management, and all ears,
including those of non-hunters, are watching and listening for the outcome
of these meetings. Many are
wondering if you will “do the right thing” or “cave to special
interests.” Of course, “doing the
right thing” has different meaning for different folks. We hope you will always do what’s right
for the long-term viability of our wildlife resources.
PFSC
Provides Testimony at October Game Commission Meeting
Once again PFSC was given the opportunity to address
the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Board of Directors: This time at the
commission’s October meeting. Much of the testimony was a recap of PFSC’s
Fall Convention held just a few weeks earlier.
PFSC
Addresses the House Game & Fisheries Committee Regarding HB904
On June 6, the House Game & Fisheries Committee
held a public hearing to discuss HB904, which relates to Sunday Hunting in
PA. Hear is PFSC’s testimony at that hearing
PFSC
Addresses the Game Commission at the January 23 Public Meeting
Many hunters
sacrificed watching playoff football games and braved cold snowy weather in
order to participate in the 5-1/2 hour long Public Comment period on
Sunday. PFSC was among the 73 individuals who took the opportunity to speak
at this meeting.
